In our view when deciding to retain a lawyer you should consider three things: Firstly, does the lawyer practice exclusively in this area of law? You would not retain Hoogbruin & Company to assist in buying and selling a house. That is not what we do. We do personal injury law. Similarly, you would not retain a real estate lawyer to litigate your case against ICBC.
Secondly, does the law firm have years of experience in the area in which they practice? Does the law firm have the ability to fund the disbursements (i.e. medical reports, engineering reports, investigation) that are necessary for your case? Does the law firm know and have the ability to retain the best medical and engineering experts?
Thirdly, and finally, do you feel comfortable talking to the lawyers in the law firm? Can you communicate with them? Do they pass the “tummy test”?
We are confident at Hoogbruin & Company that when you come in for your Consultation we will pass these tests.
